23 of 23 people found the following review helpful DONT BUY IT, September 26, 2011 By This review is from: EW-500 Electric Moped-Black (Misc.) I bought this bike directly from E - Wheels to use as a delivery bike for one of my restaurants. The throttle of the bike snapped off after four days. When I called Scott from E-Wheels he told me to call the parts and service number. After numerous attempts to get through to someone I finally was informed that they dId not have spare throttles and are waiting for some to come in from CHINA! That was almost three weeks ago! I guess so many others are having the same problem that they did not have enough throttles to go around. I called Scott today and asked for compensation. He could not care less and hung up the phone before I finished speaking.
My advice: Dont be fooled be the price and the sleek look. This is a cheap and unsafe piece of garbage. Pay a little more for something much better. The electric scooter is a great idea, just buy it from a professional company that stocks parts for the bikes they sell.
4 of 4 people found the following review helpful Please buy something else, January 22, 2012 This review is from: EW-500 Electric Moped-Black (Misc.) I bought this model for my son to use in college. What a mistake. Fell apart after a few weeks. Range nowhere near stated, screws fell out, pedal assembly fell apart(bearings and both chains), lights and horn not working. Nice to look at but I don't need an expensive paper wt. Do not buy this junk.
3 of 3 people found the following review helpful A Mobile Lie: a rolling piece of plastic junk, March 11, 2012 This review is from: EW-500 Electric Moped-Black (Misc.) My girlfriend bought the EW-500 Electric Moped from a distributor in Florida. His website is full of rave reviews about his service, mostly penned by he himself, I believe. The bike was drop-shipped from the original distributor, and I really believe drop is the operative word. Nowhere was there mention, on the distributor's website, that in New York City there would be a $325 additional shipping charge because of "the difficulty of dealing with New York"; I mean bucolic Brooklyn is not exactly the Garment District. Furthermore, any professional driver worth his salt can easily negotiate the mean streets of Manhattan.
The truck rolled up, some guy heaved an uncovered crate off the tailgate of his truck and sped off into the distance. By the time my girlfriend discovered that her supposedly ready-to-ride moped was totally nonfunctional, due to a myriad of mechanical problems, she was mildly perturbed. I could tell.
If I were to detail the trials and tribulations... Read more
